Have you ever tried to do something differently than those around you? Have you ever had a dream that others laughed at? Have you known any non-supportive people who are always ready and willing to laugh at you or gloat over your mistakes or failures? Are there family members or friends who try to sabotage you or put you down when you want to better yourself?!
Then, perhaps you can relate to the following 2-1/2 minute video:
THIS VIDEO ISN’T JUST ABOUT FOOD OR BETTER HEALTH.
It’s about breaking away from the unhealthy “norm” around you; breaking free from old family patterns that no longer serve you; breaking away from the crowd to do what your heart desires.
Some of us do march to the beat of a different drummer. Then there are some who want to be able to, but are afraid of what others might think. It takes courage to break away from old patterns, especially when it seems that everyone else does is going along with the status quo.
Notice in the video that the people weren’t happy for the boy. They laughed and looked at him oddly for trying to implement his dreams.
So don’t expect others to cheer you on when you have a new idea or you want to pursue a dream. And don’t expect these people to applaud when you succeed. People who are supposed to be your friends or family are sometimes your biggest saboteurs.
People who succeed usually have a lot of naysayers around them; yet somehow find the strength to keep going. You all have that strength within you. It might take a bit of digging, but it’s there.
There are many take-aways from this video. An important one is that it’s okay to do something different, and it’s okay to follow your heart and your dreams. It is also okay to refuse to allow society’s or your family’s eating habits to be YOUR eating habits.
