Success is a Science (Part 1)

Last week, I gave the intro to a series I am beginning called, Success is a Science.  Over the next few weeks, I will be leading you through some experiments to discover how you can use the power of the mind to achieve success.

Up until now, those of you who have worked with me may have assumed that hypnosis had some kind of special “power.” The truth is, the power is already inside of you!  This series is designed to show you exactly how to begin to use this “power.”

There is an old saying: “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he can feed himself for a lifetime.”

Some of you have had a fish (those of you who have experienced how easy it is to stop smoking, release weight, manage stress and sleep better when you are guided to use the power of your own mind.)  The rest of this series is designed to teach you how to fish. It is designed to take you from dependence to independence. It is designed to take you from disempowered to empowered. It is designed to set you free.

Be assured, this is not a belief system, it is a scientific system. As with any new science, I want to remind you to…

Be a Healthy Skeptic

Skepticism is actually a healthy attitude, but most people get it confused with cynicism, which is an unhealthy attitude.

Let’s define skepticism. A skeptic looks at an unproven theory and says, “I don’t know about this.” This is actually a healthy attitude because the words, “I don’t know” are true.

A cynic, without any evidence for or against the theory, would say “This doesn’t work” or “There is no way this can work.” A cynic is biased and not in touch with reality. So, therefore, this is an attitude to avoid. Instead, be a healthy skeptic.

Even now that some of you have experienced the incredible power of your own mind, you may still be skeptical about the fact that you can use this power to create virtually any change you want in all areas of your life.

This is good because this series is not about trying to get you to believe in any New Age mumbo jumbo, or believe in a religion, or believe in anything, for that matter. It’s not about belief at all; it’s about scientific proof.

There is only one way to know if something is true or not. Test it.  Truth is the most important thing to strive for in life because you can only make good decisions if they are based on truth. And the decisions you make in life determine your destiny.

Truth is more important than belief. Therefore, I encourage you to take a scientific attitude and to test the material that you are about to read in the laboratory of your own life. Then, and only then, will you know whether or not it is true.

In fact, the first thing that I would like to encourage you to do is never believe anything from now on without testing it.  In other words, never take anything at face value. Until it is proven, it’s simply an opinion, not a fact. Until it has been proved or disproved, you won’t know what is fact and what isn’t fact.

So, make a decision right now, that from this point forward, you will live your life as an experiment. If you don’t know if something is true or not, the truth is: you don’t know, and you won’t know until you test it. It’s with this attitude that I encourage you to stay tuned for next week’s Part 2.

Until next time,
