Success is a Science (Part 6)
This week we begin Chapter 3: The Daily Life Practice: Emotional Mastery
Now, let’s look at how you can speed up the achievement of your heart’s desires and be relaxed and enjoy the process at the same time. Here’s how it works:
Imagine emotions have different frequencies, just like radio stations. There are low frequency emotions and high frequency emotions.
Imagine that this emotional frequency system is set out on a scale with a neutral line drawn in-between the high frequency and the low frequency emotions. The line through the middle we call the line of truth. All the emotions below the line simply aren’t true. In fact, a good definition for FEAR is False Evidence that Appears Real.
The Emotional Frequency Scale
All the emotions above the line are true expressions of the core of who you are as a human being.
The low frequency emotions of anger, sadness and fear are simply like clouds that come and go. You could even call them emotional weather. The higher frequency emotions of inspiration, appreciation and bliss are like the sun. They are always there. They are the permanent, undeniable truth.
A whole book could be written on just the emotional frequency scale, but for our purposes, all you really need to know is how to move up the emotional frequency scale.
As you start to practice the 3 Circles system (see previous parts of this series), certain pieces of information that you were previously unconscious of will come into your conscious awareness. You’ll start becoming more aware of not only the things that are working in your life, but also the things that are not working in your life.
In the accomplishment of anything worthwhile, there are usually setbacks along the way. One of the most important things you can do is train yourself to take full advantage of every setback.
This may sound strange to take advantage of every setback, but as you practice this you’ll begin to discover that every problem is an opportunity to do 3 things:
- Get clearer about what it is that you do You may catch yourself saying, “I don’t want this.” Whenever something happens that you don’t want, it’s a huge opportunity to build more clarity about what you do want. Remember, clarity = power, more specifically the power to create. The moment that you are completely clear about a particular object of desire, you will feel a burst of joy inside of you, and that is a sign that it’s making its way towards you rapidly. You can refer to this as the moment of complete clarity. Every goal has a moment of complete clarity, and you’ll know it immediately when that goal has been refined to the point of complete clarity.
- It’s an opportunity to practice emotional mastery by moving up the emotional frequency scale. We’ll be talking more about this process in a moment, and giving you specific practices to achieve emotional mastery.
- Build your conscious awareness by practicing thought recognition. The moment you realize that you are thinking a thought that feels bad, you have the opportunity to immediately stop thinking that thought and reach for a thought that feels better. As you do this process, you’re actually building your conscious awareness. In other words, you’re accelerating your evolution as a human being by making what was previously unconscious, conscious. You are quite literally expanding your consciousness.
Over time, you’ll gradually be raising your emotional set point.
Most people fluctuate below the line, moving up and down between fear and relaxation. You may have experiences this yourself. In moments of stress, fear, sadness, anger, if someone were to grab you and say, “What do you want?” you might find yourself saying, “I just want to relax.” Which is good because it’s a move in the right direction, i.e., up the emotional frequency scale.
If you were to ask most people that are on average wage, “How much money would you like?” the response would be, “I don’t want to be rich; I just want to be comfortable.” What they are really saying is they want to move out of negative emotion, perhaps worry, fear about money and paying bills, and move up to the line of comfort and relaxation. In other words, they are looking for relief.
If there were 2 suitcases laid down in front of them and they were given the choice out of which one to take, one with $100,000 and one with $100,000,000, the strange thing is, every single one of them would take the suitcase with $100,000,000 in it! In other words, when you allow them to see beyond their emotional set point, which is the place where they spend most of their emotional life, they will always choose the most abundant option.
In the same way, gradually as your emotional set point moves higher and higher up the emotional scale (in other words, the place where you habitually spend most of your emotional life starts to move up in frequency) so will your idea of what is possible. There’s no need to rush this, it happens over time as you practice the system. Remember, “in its own perfect time.”
In the final part of this series is something we call the 12-week challenge. If you take the challenge, you may be able to condition yourself to completely change your set point in a very short time. For example, you may be able to move from fluctuating between frustration and relaxation most of the time, to fluctuating between relaxation and joy most of the time. This is a very profound change, and it will drastically speed up the rate at which you can create results in your life.
As your emotional set point gradually moves up the emotional scale, you will be able to conceive of new possibilities, e.g., you may have set a goal to double your income and that was as far as you could see; now you have achieve it and proved to yourself the effectiveness of not only the system, but also your ability to consciously use the Law of Attraction, you may be ready to double, triple or quadruple your income again, simply because you can conceive of the possibility.
Make no mistake; it is a fact that whatever you can conceive and believe, you can achieve.
